The Tragedy
● This is a sad and tragic story. It is the story of the brutal war in Sudan that has been forgotten in the shadow of the Russian- Ukrainian and Israel-Gaza wars.
● Almost a year ago, April 15, 2023, a brutal war between the Sudanese Army led by General Burhan and the militia group called the Rapid Support Force led by General Doglo has been raging on and has devastated the country of Sudan.
● The result has been a sad and tragic suffering of the people of Sudan
● The world continues to stay silent and most of the media has” moved on”
Causes of the War
● The main causes of the war were to the fight for political control of the country’s by the two generals
● Political instability instigated by the Muslim Brotherhood group.
● The, foreign actors who seek to exploit the county’s gold and agricultural resources.
Painful results of the War
● According to reliable reports and the United Nations own reports the following are the harrowing statistics of the war aftermath:
● Over two million Sudanese are refugees in neighboring countries
● Close to ten million are internally displaced.
● An impending famine that will affect 25 million is expected this year
● The destruction of the country’s infrastructure has been almost complete. The water, electrical, communication, education and health systems have been decimated.
